Holding a "community forum" instead of a "candidate forum" for Wake County school board tonight

WRAL hasn't apparently gotten the message that it won't be much of a forum tonight for the District 2 candidates for Wake County school board.

As previously noted, school board candidate Matt Scruggs told organizers from the League of Women Voters of Wake County that he wouldn't come. Only candidate Monika Johnson Hostler will be present at the Garner Performing Arts Center, 742 W. Garner Road.

All during its morning newscasts, WRAL was hyping how you could hear from both candidates tonight.

WRAL, like it did with Monday's District 9 forum, says it will stream tonight's forum online.

The format will switch from being a candidate forum to a "community forum," with Johnson Hostler taking all the questions. The community forum runs from 7 to 8:30 p.m. with 30 minutes set aside starting at 6:30 p.m. to hear about the $810 million school bond issue.

At Tuesday's forum sponsored by the Fuquay-Varina Chamber of Commerce, Scruggs spoke against the bond issue while Johnston Hostler voiced her support for the bonds.
